Beautiful beaches of the Costa Azahar
The Costa Azahar, or Orange Blossom Coast, forms part of the provinces of Valencia and Castellón and is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions of Spain offering great coastline for beach holidays.
Beaches
We are just 15 minutes drive from the nearest blue flag beaches in Vinaròs, on the Costa del Azahar. Unspoilt and less crowded than most Spanish Costas, here you enjoy kilometres of white sand, interspersed with hidden coves, that are perfect any time of the year.
Playa del Fortí, the main beach in Vinarós, is a blue flag beach with golden coarse sand, set against the backdrop of the promenade with its palm trees, red metal sculptures, and plenty of bars and restaurants. Walk north from here and you discover Playa del Fortí, a smaller beach with a simple bar, backed by palm and pine trees.
Looking for something more intimate, then Cala del Pinar is for you. Located on the north coast of Vinaròs this small, pretty cove is surrounded by pine trees, and perfect for a day of swimming in the Mediterranean sun. This cove is one of the most beautiful on the Costa del Azahar: the golden sand combines with the pebbles and rocks on the shore to create a unique landscape. Similar quiet beach coves to visit along this coastline include Cala de les Timbes and La Sunyera cove which is located right in the middle of the Jardí del Sòl de Riu nature reserve. All with clear waters suitable for snorkelling... or just relaxing.
Cala de Sòl de Riu is another unspoiled Vinaros beach, quiet and located in an isolated area from the rest of the coastline, often enjoyed by naturists.
If you are wanting to enjoy the traditional long Spanish beach of Pensicola, but want to be able to escape the crowds of this tourist hotspot, then Casa de Olivos is the perfect base for you. We are just 25 minutes drive to Peniscola with its castle in the sea and award winning beaches.
Playa Norte - 5km of beach in a spectacular setting, with the Papa Luna Castle as its backdrop. Playa Sur - Near the fishing port, this smaller fine sandy beach is characterised by its calm waters - here you can practice sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. Playa del Pebret - South of Peñiscola in the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Irta, is the perfect place to relax among the dunes. Throughout the whole nature reserve you can find small and hidden coves, some of which are clothing-optional and popular with naturists.
Benicarlo - Just before the port, you’ll find the blue flag Playa de Morrongo, with its 300m of golden sand and good selection of bars and restaurants. For a more rustic feel there is the pebble beach of Playa Norte o Playa del Mar Chica. Then Playa de la Caracolaia another sandy beach which connects Benicarlo by coast to Peniscola.
