Join In The Fun Of The Ferias and Fiestas

Towns & cities take huge pride their Ferias and Fiestas which run throughout the year. During the summertime you could actually travel your way around local towns going from Fiesta to Fiesta.

Fiestas

Traiguera has a few fiestas spread throughout the year, but each year the patron-Virgen de la Asunción y San Roque (Virgin of the Assumption and Saint Roque) is honoured in a serious celebration that runs from for 10 days starting around August 12. A vast array of traditional activities and dinners take place as well as music concerts, exhibitions, firework displays and bike races also included.

The Traiguera Fira Romana runs the first weekend in October with Romans, nymphs, mythical creatures and street performers filling the streets for a weekend. Its a must see event and one we love to join.

Sant Jordi festivals include traditional elements such as bullfighting in the streets and squares, photographic exhibitions, local folk dancing, concerts by the local Music Band and the Choir, traditional sisterhood dinners, and a variety of events hosted by local groups.

The Mostra d'Oficis Tradicionals is a must visit fair of crafts and traditions in early August.

Cervera Del Maestrea Encuentro de dragones y bestias de fuego is a must see - with amazing fireworks and processions of dragons with a lot noise. This has to be seen to be believed with fire, smoke, dragons, music and crackers filling the streets. This is a Casa de Olivos favourite.

Sant Mateu Medieval Fira is a delight of food, crafts and entertainment of many kinds. With medieval street performers and jousting in the main arena. Another favourite of ours.

Vinaros hosts many fiestas throughout the year.  When January arrives the town throws itself into its carnival, declared an event of regional interest for tourism and is the town’s biggest festival.  In the summer there are Saint John and Saint Peter’s feast days. These popular festivities enjoy live music outdoors and fireworks. There are also traditional maritime processions that takes place on 16 July, the day sailors honour their patron saint Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Valencia is a city that knows how to party - it is certainly not short of festivals. Throughout the year celebrations take place in honour of saints or local traditions - each with its own distinct feel. Without question, Valencia's largest celebration is Las Fallas. It is an internationally renowned fiesta that sees people come from all over the world to witness the spectacle. The whole programme of festivities during Las Fallas is centred around the city's competition to build the best Ninots. At the end of the week, a Ninot Indultat is chosen - this is the winning effigy and is the only one not to be burned.
