Two exquisite apartments with shared pool in a stunning hillside location near Traiguera

Frequently Asked Questions

Our goal is that your stay at Casa de Olivos countryside getaway exceeds your expectations.

Here are a few questions that regularly come up that might help you.

If you still have any questions regarding our facilities and services please don't hesitate to contact us and we'd be happy to give you more information.

  • What does 'exclusive use' booking mean?

The two apartments at Casa de Olivos share the use of the outdoor guest facilities of the swimming pool terrace with loungers, bbq and dining area, petanca court, gardens and olive groves.

So if you are booking both apartments you automatically have the exclusive use of all the outdoor guest areas.

Even if you are travelling as a couple of just two people, you can still book both apartments so you have exclusive use of the guest facilities without any other guests staying for the duration of your stay.

  • How much will we see the hosts?

Claire & Ed live on site - But if you don't need us, you don't see us!

We're here when you first arrive to get you checked-in and make sure you know where the important stuff is.
If you're an early bird you might spot us when we are cleaning the pool and tidying the terrace, and later on in the evening we go down to close the gate for the night and check all is well.

We fit in around you, help out when you need something and then let you carry on with your relaxing holiday.

  • Do you accept children?

For bookings of the two apartments together we welcome children age 12+.  Any children under 16 must sleep in an apartment with at least one adult.

Otherwise we are Adult only, age 18+.

If you have children under 12 and want to stay please contact us directly to discuss.

  • Do you accept pets?

Guests pets (or hunting dogs) are not allowed on the premises. Guests arriving with animals will not be permitted to check-in and Casa de Olivos reserve the right to retain any deposit or balance payments made for the booking.

  • When is the swimming pool open?

Our salt-water swimming pool is available from April through to October.  We keep it covered at night to retain the warmth of the day, but it is not a heated pool.

And if you like a midnight dip, just let us know and we'll leave the pool uncovered over night for you.

  • What are the check in and out times?

Guests can Check-in from 15:00 on the first day of their stay.  If you think you're going to be later than 10pm, please let us know and we'll make sure we're awake when you arrive!

Check-out is  until 11:00 on your last day.

  • Is breakfast included?

We're self-catering, and breakfast is not included in the price of the accommodation.

Sometimes though, having the first meal of the day brought to you makes the holiday that little bit more special so we are pleased to offer the Casa de Olivos breakfast for two especially for those who feel that mornings are for being a bit naughty and staying in bed while someone else does the work!

Order the day before and wake up to a delicious continental breakfast with a Spanish twist.  Enjoy two freshly baked croissants served with jam, and slices of white toast with traditional tomato and olive oil dressing.  Yogurt, fresh fruits and cheese are included, and a glass of orange juice.  Choose from freshly brewed coffee, or tea to complete your perfect start to the perfect day.

A little bit less for you to do at your Spanish rural retreat.

For €25 per two people, payable on site.

  • I need wi-fi? Can I get on-line while I'm there?

Of course you can!  Each apartment has it's own FREE unlimited wifi. Login details are provided on check-in.

  • How far is the nearest beach?

Casa de Olivos is close to a number of Blue Flag beaches on the Costa Azahar and the Ebro Delta.

Vinaros beach is nearest - just a 15 minute drive to a lovely beach with a string of bars and resaurants on the promenade just off the sand. Benicarlo is about 20 minutes away, and Pensicola about 25 minute drive.

We've listed these beaches and more on our  EXPLORE page.

  • Do we need a car to get around?

Casa de Olivos is wonderfully tranquil because it is placed on a hillside overlooking the little town of Traiguera.  But that does mean that having your own transport is a good idea.

Traiguera town is 2.5km away, Sant Jordi about the same, and both are within reach on foot or by bike.

But to really enjoy the local area with its beaches, castles, mountains and little towns, your own car is essential.

  • What do we need to bring to use the BBQ?

We have a wood-fired barbecue ready for guests to use, and we provide wood, charcoal, matches and lighters as well as the barbecue tools, paella dishes, apron, mitt and cleaning kit.  Everything you'll need to unleash your inner al-fresco chef!

You just need to supply the food, the wine and the music.

We even have two grill-plates - one for the meat eaters and another if you are vegetarian.

  • Do you accept hen & stag parties?

Casa de Olivos is a place to unwind, chill and relax.  We encourage guests to put on some music, open a beer and make the most of the time with family and friends.

However,  we're not set up to be a party-pad so is not suitable for hedonistic party groups, hen or stag bookings.

  • Is the accommodation no smoking?

The living accommodation is strictly no-smoking.  Smoking is permited when outside. We do ask that smokers use the ash trays provided.

  • Is the tap water drinkable?

Our tap water is drinkable.  Our water is filtered and sanitised on site so that it is safe to drink. Thanks to our Ultra Violet treatment system, we have removed the need for single use plastic water bottles.  Every fridge has a refillable glass jug for your to keep water cool.

  • How is Casa de Olivos supporting sustainable tourism?

Our little corner of the planet is very precious to us, and we have worked hard to make sure that Casa de Olivos is working closely with our local community and with nature.

We source much of our ceramics from the two potteries in Traiguera, and we promote the local markets, shops, restaurants and bars to all our guests.

Since moving here, we have done much to improve the ecology on the site, and the working eco olive groves are a vital part of our strategy.

And while guests are here, many will experience for the first time life in an off-grid property.  Our electricity is from a PV-Solar system on site, and we harvest rain water as our primary water source.

If you'd like to see more while you're here, Claire and Ed would be happy to show you around and discuss all of our initiatives with you.

We will provide you with sumptuous crisp white bed linen and fluffy white towels, as well as a waffle bathrobe and slippers.  Linen and towels can be changed on request for stays of 4 nights or more.

There are a number of Spanish language channels on the TV too.

  • Is the accommodation heated?

The Farga apartment has a woodburner in the lounge which keeps the aparment nice and warm on the cooler months.

Elsewhere, we use portable gas heaters for heating.

  • Is there air conditioning in the apartments?

The apartments both have portable tower fans throughout and the bedrooms also have ceiling fans. Thanks to it's modern construction, Casa de Olivos maintains very comfortable temperatures for most of the year, and our hillside location means we tend to get a pleasant breeze in the afternoons and evenings to naturally cool things down. All windows are fitted with heat reflective films to keep the heat out in the summer and mosquito nets so you won't be pestered by bugs if you have the windows open at night.

  • Do you have a luggage store?

If you've brought large bags or suitcases with you and would like them out of your way once you've unpacked, we can stow these for you in our storage area until you need them again.

  • Is it OK to sunbathe topless or naked?

Absolutely! We are not overlooked by neighbours or passers by.  So if you like to be outside topless or nude, that's fine.  We do ask that if you wish to sunbathe nude that you have an 'exclusive booking', so you have complete privacy.

Your hosts live on the site but don't share any of the guest facilities with you, and if you don't need us you don't see us.  We make sure to give all our guests the privacy they need.

Away from Casa de Olivos there are a number of gorgeous beaches nearby for naturists and nudists as well as clothing-optional beaches.  See our page on beaches here.  Sunbathing topless is fine on all beaches.
